  • (Approx. 1:30 AM – 2:30 AM) Hotel Pickup: Our driver will pick you up from your hotel in the very early hours of the morning. The exact time depends on your hotel’s location.
  • Journey to Kintamani: Travel comfortably in an air-conditioned vehicle to the Kintamani region, at the foothills of Mount Batur.
  • (Approx. 3:30 AM – 4:00 AM) Arrival & Briefing at Mt. Batur Lounge/Start Point: Meet your experienced local hiking guide. You’ll receive a safety briefing, be provided with a flashlight/headlamp, and have a chance to use the facilities at the Mt. Batur Lounge before starting your ascent.
  • The Ascent (Approx. 1.5 – 2 hours): Begin your trek up Mount Batur in the cool pre-dawn darkness. Your guide will lead the way, setting a comfortable pace and allowing for short breaks if needed. The path can be steep and challenging in parts.
  • (Approx. 5:30 AM – 6:00 AM) Summit Arrival & Sunrise Breakfast: Reach the summit (1,717m / 5,633 ft) just as the sky begins to lighten. Find a good spot to witness the spectacular sunrise. Your guide will prepare a simple breakfast (often eggs boiled in volcanic steam, bread, and bananas) and hot drinks for you to enjoy as you soak in the incredible views over Lake Batur, Mount Abang, Mount Agung, and sometimes even Lombok’s Mount Rinjani on a clear day.

  • Activity Level: Moderate to Challenging. This is a strenuous hike requiring good physical condition. The terrain is uneven, rocky, and can be slippery. It is not a casual walk.
  • Not Suitable For: Pregnant women, individuals with heart problems, serious back issues, respiratory conditions, or significant mobility impairments. Children under a certain age (e.g., 10-12) may find it very challenging; please consult with us regarding suitability for younger hikers. The minimum suggested age by some operators is 18, but fit older children often participate.
  • What to Wear: Sturdy, closed-toe hiking shoes or trainers with good grip are essential. Layers of clothing are recommended – it can be cold at the summit before sunrise, but you’ll warm up quickly during the hike. A windproof jacket is advisable.
